Community of Scholars Dinner

This annual event provides an opportunity to publicly acknowledge, reward and encourage the outstanding accomplishments of our faculty and staff. By coming together, we reinforce our collective commitment to excellence in medical research, education, patient care and professionalism.

Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation is pleased to host this event on behalf of Dalhousie Medical School and to support its purpose by offering awards that recognize excellence in medical research. These include the Max Forman Research Award, for senior investigators, and DMRF Awards of Excellence, which recognize exceptional achievements of junior researchers. Three awards of excellence are offered each year, one in basic medical research, one in clinical research, and one in any of the six following research areas: health law, bioethics, medical informatics, population health, medical education, or medical humanities.

The late Sophie Forman established the Max Forman prize in memory of her husband, Max, in recognition of his philanthropic nature and especially his generous support for local medical research.  The Max Forman Research Award recognizes the accomplishments of an investigator who has demonstrated excellence throughout a distinguished career in medical research.

DMRF is pleased to recognize the following individuals, who received DMRF-sponsored Community of Scholars awards in 2009:
